From the Patterns Of The Period series, this is a full-size measured drawing by Ron Clarkson – author of ‘Making Classic Chairs – A Chippendale Craftman’s Reference’.
The pack contains two sheets 24ins by 36ins plus list of materials and a plan for a tapering jig.
As stated on the cover sheet, the chair features a fully-carved back starting with a crestrail combining cabison, acanthus and bell flower carving. This flows into a strapwork-pierced backsplat with a central carved element. Two fully-carved rear legs and two fully-carved acanthus front legs which terminate in ball and claw feet complete the design.
