Extract from preface of book:

The purpose of The Carversí Handbook is to provide teachers and students in the woodcarving field with a fundamental system of instruction. I hope this will enable all to enjoy this rapidly developing American realistic form of art.

We will explore all of the modern tools used to carve, texture and paint wood carvings of wild life.

A series of relief carvings and figures in the round are presented to satisfy the requirements for the Boy Scout woodcarving merit badge. Realistic color photographs of each carving and the patterns to develop the carvings are shown so that the carver can visualize the finished project while the work is in progress.

This is the second book in the Carversí Handbook Series. Instructions are presented for carving a tiger, a goldfinch, and a mouse in the round and an owl in relief.
