In this volume Steve decribes the construction of a few jigs specifically designed for the bandsaw. There’s an adjustable backstop, circle cutting jig, furniture button jig, push block/jig for cutting wedges and a dovetail cutting system.
The circle cutting jig is a bit more advanced than the usual bandsaw jig for cutting circles in that it enables you to cut in from an edge and then start to cut the circle.
Furniture buttons are the small wooden items often used to secure a table top to the frame. With Steve’s jig you can mass produce identical buttons quickly and easily.
The push block for cutting wedges makes the process simple, there’s no measuring and you can quickly cut as many wedges as you need.
The dovetail system is Steve’s version of a pair of jigs published in Mark Duginski’s Bandsaw Handbook.
At the end of this volume, he makes two boxes on the bandsaw. The first one is a simple rectangular design made by cutting a block of wood seven times and regluing the parts. The second one is a teardrop design that introduces some of the techniques required to make artistic bandsawn boxes.
