The award-winning Let-the-Good-Times-Roll Music Box is an especially interesting project. It's created using several types of turning procedures with optional carving and indexing skills. When the finial is wound, the music plays and a barely visible brass wire rolls nine 3/4" turned wooden balls around inside the cage. Hearts carved around the circumference reveal the movement. Traditional Egyptian turned-wood panels are the focal point of the Mashrabeya Vessel. A series of balls are connected to each other by cylindrical links, forming the grid-patterned panels. One of the challenges of making the Floral Carved Vessel is the varying diameters of the turned surfaces. And for a charming example of how to animate a design, be sure to take a look at Izzy A. Turner. When you wind up Izzy's nose, his eyes roll around slowly, the propeller on the top of his cap rotates, and his nose turns while he plays your choice of music.

He is a Founding Member of the American Association of Woodturners and the recipient of their "Honorary Lifetime Membership Award." He has been made an Honorary Life Member of the Central Texas Woodturning Association and The Woodturners of North Texas. He is a Founding Member of the SouthWest Area Turners (SWAT) Association. He has had articles published in the American Woodturner, WOOD magazine, Woodshop JVews, National Woodcarvers Association's Chip Chats, Fine Woodworking, and London's Guild of Master Craftsmen's Woodturner magazine.
