As reviewed in The Australian Woodworker Issue 151 One of the enormous benefits of working in wood is the ease with which shapes can be prepared for an endless range of items from fine furniture to children's toys. This project book concentrates on the toy end of the spectrum, providing plans and constructional descriptions for 28 projects to delight the junior members of any household. Most of the toys are easy to make though it will probably take a little time and talent to paint them to the standard illustrated in the book. The Ultimate Adventurer's Vehicle will serve as an example of the way in which each of the projects is presented. First there are four 3-dimensional drawings showing the variations of the vehicle. Then there several pages of dimensioned drawings showing how the various parts of the vehicle are to be made. These are followed by a full materials and tools list and instructions on putting the pieces together. The treatment is bright and light-hearted. Some of the other projects are a Thumb-Action Marble Shooter, a Gold Medal Backflip Skier, a Mini-Croquet Game, Hand Hockey Game, Airplane on a Stick, a Ball and Socket Robot and a Poparozzi Gumball Machine. These are fun projects and the book is deliberately fun to read and use. Photos: Colour Units of Measurement: Imperial Contents Introduction SHOOTERS
