As reviewed in The Australian Woodworker Issue 135

Ask anyone who has a collection of old copies of The Australian Woodworker and they will tell you that some of the articles that were published 10, 15 or 20 years ago, are as relevant today as they were when they first appeared.

Many ideas are timeless, so it's not surprising that woodworking books dating back half a century or more are being re-published. The only problem is that modern readers are accustomed to different methods of presentation. Also, while the basic idea may be sound, it would often benefit from a little more up-to-date comment on how it could be used in today's woodworking environment.

This unusual book does all of that and more. It centres around pages from a periodical called the Deltagram which was published by Delta Manufacturing Co. This little magazine was sent free to everyone who purchased a piece of Delta (USA) woodworking machinery, circulating among woodworkers of the 1930's and 40's in the USA.

In each instance, the idea expressed in the pages from the Deltagram are further described and developed by a modern author (Chris Gleason) and illustrator (Kevin Pierce).

These are some of the 24 jigs, fixtures and tool storage projects covered in this book: Table Saw Cut-Off Fence, Spiral Turning on the Tablesaw, Sanding Workpieces to Precise Widths on the Table Saw, Drilling Centred Holes in Spheres, Making Dowels on the Shaper, Cutting Long Mitres with a Straight Bit on the Router Table, Disk Sander Pivoting Jig, Curved Forms for the Stationary Belt Sander and Fast-Action Drill Press Table.

The value of the book lies in both the original ideas and in the way in which they have been presented to make them more applicable to the woodworking community of today.
