the Author: He joined the Queensland Art Gallery in 1978 as Supervising Artisan and has since been responsible for the restoration/conservation of frames and furniture and for making the copies of period frames required for the display of Gallery paintings. With the assistance of the Queensland Art Gallery Foundation, he undertook an internship in gilding conservation and restoration and furniture conservation/restoration at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London in 1988 and '89. In addition to studying the framing of paintings in major museums and art galleries in Europe and U.S.A. he has made a special study of the framing used on paintings by the Camden Town school.
