Composed of material drawn from four previous titles published over the period from 1990 to 1994, Big Book of Weekend Woodworking covers an extraordinarily wide range of projects.
They have been divided for convenience into 12 categories from Kitchen Projects to Clocks and from Folk Art and Stools, Stands and Shelves, to Wall Boxes and reproduction Antiques.
Perhaps the most important feature of the projects is that practically all of them result in items that are useful. The Kitchen Projects, for example, include Toaster Tongs, a Classic Cutting Board, A Bread Basket and Serving Tray. Useful Household Projects include an octagonal Jewellery Box, a Folding Candleholder and a Shoeshine Box while Toys, Games & Puzzles include a Model T Runabout, a Jeep, a Dump Truck and a WW1 Aeroplane.
There is quite literally something for everybody. Most are relatively simple and would need only commonly available tools, though a scrollsaw would be an advantage (and essential for the Fretsaw Projects). But some are more complex and would provide a test of skill for the average woodworker.
