As reviewed in The Australian Woodworker Issue 128

While coffin-making may appear to be a bizarre project for woodworking, we have had several requests for a book on coffins and are pleased to announce that we have Do-It-Yourself Coffins for Pets and People in stock.

We are not certain of the legal requirements relating to making your own coffin, but certainly there appears to be a demand for pet coffins. The pet industry is a huge business these days and when a family's beloved pet dies, a well made wooden box has a lot of appeal as a final resting place for the animal. This task then falls to the woodworker in the family.

With basic plans and step-by-step colour photographs, Dale details the construction of six coffins, three sized for people and three for pets, ranging from basic to elaborate. Where construction details are identical for different designs, these are shown with the first coffin and only referred to in later chapters.

By varying the dimensions all six designs could be used to bury an animal or bird. If a family pet dies or you have to make a coffin prop for your local drama group, you'll appreciate having a copy of this unusual woodworking book.
