As reviewed in House & HOME Issue 74 If you’re looking for ways to protect and display your collectables, Display Cases You Can Build contains 11 step-by-step projects providing a range of cabinets in a variety of styles to suit different tastes. Both beginners and experienced DIYers are catered for with items such as the Wall-Mounted Cabinet, a Contemporary Display and Storage Cabinet, Divider-Wall Display Cabinet and the China Credenza and Hutch. Each project includes an introduction outlining the origin and features of the particular piece. There are dimensioned drawings in Imperial measurements and a materials list in both Imperial and Metric. The construction process is then described using text and a step-by-step series of photos, accompanied by special tips and construction notes. The Wall-Mounted Cabinet has been designed as a simple functional shelf for displaying smaller items. Half-lap corner joints, adjustable glass shelves and a very straightforward construction make this an excellent starter project. Most of the other designs are substantial cabinets, intended for DIYers with at least intermediate skills and a reasonably well-equipped workshop. Display Cases You Can Build offers a range of projects that will not only show off your treasured collections or valuables, but also provide attractive furniture for your home.
