Extract from back cover of book:

This delightful book presents a total of 17 projects for you to make. The subjects are taken from many different parts of the natural world, and the treatment ranges from the realistic to the abstract, and from free-standing sculptures to functional decorative objects.

Each project is beautifully illustrated in colour, and accompanied by full working drawings and fascinating background information on the subject of the carving. The author's enthusiasm for the natural world is evident throughout.

Concluding chapters give practical guidance on tools and techniques, and on gathering information and developing designs for carving. There is an inspirational gallery of work by other carvers.

Frank Fox-Wilson has been carving wildlife subjects for many years, though he still modestly describes himself as 'an enthusiastic amateur'. A parish priest by profession, he has also written on local history. This is his first book on woodcarving.
